Neuropathy – It’s Not True There’s Really NOTHING You Can Do For It

Neuropathy Relief in Fort Wayne IN

All too often diabetic patients find themselves in a state of hopelessness and discouragement as a result of having peripheral neuropathy. They clearly see that medical treatment isn’t helping them improve their neuropathy, but they don’t know what else to do, or where else to turn for help. In fact, the longer it goes on, the more frustration overcomes them, since despite all the medications they take, it continues to worsen. We are here to help at New Life Chiropractic in Fort Wayne, In.

Look, if you’ve experienced any of the common systems of neuropathy then you know first-hand how helpless it can make you feel.  After all, these symptoms can include, but are not limited to:

  • sensitivity of the skin to touch
  • low blood sugar
  • pain
  • cramps
  • tingling and/or numbness
  • digestive upsets, including nausea and vomiting

You see, recognizing that you are getting worse leads to facing the “reality” that maybe your condition really isn’t going to get any better, and some people blindly accept this conclusion.

Well, it’s time you discover that the medical reality of neuropathy not improving despite medications is not true reality.

The truth is there have been many people who have overcome neuropathy – and you can, too.

Neuropathy Progresses

There are too many negative things that can occur when someone has neuropathy.

You could trip and fall. You could stub your toe, which could then lead to an infection that results in amputation. You could lose your ability to drive and your driver’s license is yanked. And not having feeling in the lower legs and feet means you are disconnected to that part of your body.

A lot of people with neuropathy that progressed to this point report that they wish they had found a solution years earlier.

After all, if they had only known what is true sooner, then they would have possibly prevented an awful lot of problems, while being able to enjoy their lives a whole lot more.

Partial Plan for Neuropathy Patients

Although there are many things that need to be accounted for, here are a few things that many people have found to be of great help.  Now keep in mind, this is not intended to diagnose or treat neuropathy, but to enhance your body’s ability to heal and overcome such a horrible condition:

  1. First, let’s go to the cause – the high blood sugar levels. We need to reduce them non-medically. This step starts with changing your diet. You’ll be amazed at how much better you will feel just from this one step. And yes, you will have to give up some of your favorite foods – but really, you know deep down you shouldn’t have been eating them in the first place. And you really can have control over your taste buds! Don’t let your tongue control you!
  1. Next, let’s get your potassium levels up and your sodium levels down. The restoration of the sodium and potassium balance goes far with neuropathy.
  1. Third, let’s get you exercising since it will increase the circulation to the lower legs. This in turn causes a cascade of reactions; one of these is the regeneration of small nerves.
  1. Fourth is to get you on some supplements that help decrease insulin resistance, and are important cofactors for nerve regeneration. Some of these supplements include vitamin B12, omega 3 fish oil, chromium, and alpha-lipoic acid.
  1. Additionally, chiropractic care has been shown to be very effective at helping patients with peripheral neuropathy. In fact, an article in the Diabetes News Journal states that, “Chiropractic care is an effective treatment for peripheral neuropathy because it targets the root cause for a patient’s pain symptoms; we do not simply rely on medication to numb this pain”.  The article goes on to say, “While chiropractic care is not a ‘cure’ for peripheral neuropathy, it is an important part of an effective treatment program.”

Remember, your body was created with an incredible potential to function and heal.  You were not created defenseless and without the means of being able to overcome such symptoms and/or diagnosis.  As you move towards health in every area of your life, your body is more likely to function and heal better than if you ignore the basic fundamentals of what it takes to get and stay well for a lifetime.
